Stained Glass Paw Print in Heart

This is another version of my Paw Print in Heart design with a black paw and blue and green textured glass. I’ve found that the best paw colors are the black and the white ones; I use the paw color that fits with the background glass best, or whatever the client wants me to use.

Custom Stained Glass Panel with Hummingbirds and Trumpet Vine

This is a custom stained glass panel done for clients who were looking for something special with hummingbirds. I chose to focus on the birds and the flowers and keep the background simple. The glass panel alone measures 18 inches high and 29 inches wide. The frame was made by Crone’s Custom Woodworking.

Created for Audrey and Joe Metro.

    Stained Glass Art

Working and creating art with stained glass is a most satisfying experience. I translate some of the detail I use in my illustration and portrait work into my stained glass designs using the fantastic colors and textures found in the glass itself. One has to consider the light in which the piece will be viewed and choose the colors and glass accordingly. My designs are all original creations, done from nature and photographs. I use the copper foil method which allows me to cut smaller pieces and thus get more detail in the glass design.

Stained Glass Panel with Sussex Spaniel

This custom stained glass panel was done for a couple in North Carolina who breed Sussex Spaniels. The panel was made to fit into a gate that they made for their front yard. I used different textured clear glass to create an interesting effect, and amber granite glass for their kennel name, Island Sussex. I only asked that they bring in the panel when the hurricanes were coming!

    Hummingbird Stained Glass Wall Clock

This custom stained glass wall clock was fashioned after the Hummingbird Mantel Clock that you will find under “Clocks” on the main menu under “Stained Glass Art.” The client wanted a wall clock instead, so I made the pattern fit a round design, with the fuchsia flowers flowing around the face. The Hummingbird is done in iridescent glass, as are the bottom petals of the fuchsia flowers. This stained glass wall clock is roughly 12 inches across.

    Stained Glass Hummingbird Mirrors

These two Hummingbird mirrors were commissioned by friends of mine for their home in Northwest Connecticut. Avid gardeners and bird lovers, they were looking for a natural design showing flowers growing in their gardens, with a Hummingbird pair. The mirrors are 24 inches across, not including the frames, which add another two inches or so. Each mirror has around 600 pieces. The stained glass overlays the 24 inch mirror, so when light hits it, the glass seems to glow with color. These two stained glass mirrors hang in the private home of Wendy and Darrell Decker.

Elephant window for the Ivoryton Library

This custom stained glass window panel was created for the Ivoryton Library as a gift in memory of the Town Historian. It is fitted into a transom-style space above French doors between adjoining rooms in the library.

Elephants are the major theme of the library, as the history of the town includes a piano factory, which used ivory for the piano keys.

The panel measures approximately 10 by 34 inches and depicts two elephants in a greeting, entwining their trunks. The amber and purple glass in the panel were taken from an old window saved from a renovation. The library dates back to 1889, so you can imagine how thrilling it was to be able to reuse the old glass.

On either side of the stained glass panel are 4 pieces of decorative calligraphy by Adrienne Samuelson, of Centerbrook, Connecticut.
