This was a custom painted tile with a Field Spaniel going over an obedience jump, with a dumbbell in his mouth. The tile is a piece of stained glass cut to fit the top of the wood box.

Norwich Terrier Dog Show Trophies
Here are a few things from a line of dog show trophies that I did in 2018 for Norwich Terriers. Most of these are painted stained glass tiles inset into wood frames or wood boxes. There is one petite ornament with gold trim. More Norwich Terrier trophies will be posted soon.

Custom Painted Canister
This is a large canister that I painted for a friend to give as a wedding present. It’s got 15 dogs on it, the dogs that the bride took care of in my friend’s pet sitting service. Three smaller dogs are on the lid, and the rest are on the body of the canister. It was a challenge to get them all on!

Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Trophies
These are some painted tiles in frames, boxes, pencil holder and a leash rack that I created in 2018. I used cool snow colors in the glass tiles for a backdrop to the artwork.

Flat Coat Retriever Dog Show Trophies
Here are some of the trophies I created in 2018 for the Flat Coat Retriever national. I used stained glass for the tiles to get water effects, grass effects, and to make interesting backgrounds for the paintings.

Painted China Ornaments
This is an example of a smaller piece, a gold trimmed china ornament with a Welsh Springer Spaniel. I have different sizes and configurations, some oval, some with cutwork around the edges, and a version in stained glass that has a finished solder edge.

Painted China Plate with English Cocker Spaniel
On a visit to a local antiques dealer, I found an almost full set of china with this beautiful jade/sage green banding, and knew it would work great with so many painted subjects. Here is an English Cocker head study.

Dog Show Trophies for Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers
Late in the summer of 2018, I spent a great deal of my time working on painted stained glass tiles with Tollers as the subject matter. Here are some of the pieces, framed in black wood. I like to use the glass as part of the background…it makes things more interesting and adds something different to my pieces.

Painted China with Pointer
This is the first of many plates that I’ve painted with a Pointer theme. It was the beginning of my new venture into painting on china, for dog show trophies or for gifts. The painted china plate below, and the dog shown, belongs to Laura Salvatore.

Kerry Blue Terrier Painted China Plate
Another breed for the painted china plates, here is a Kerry Blue Terrier in a coastal Ireland scene, with sheep in the background. I will be doing some more painted china for a Kerry Blue Terrier club next spring for their national. The china that was supplied to me is Royal Doulton. This plate is a salad size piece.

English Springer Spaniel Painted China Plate
Another breed in my series of painted china plates is this English Springer Spaniel. This was donated to the Eastern English Springer Spaniel club for their raffle/auction at their specialty show in June of 2013.

NEW! Painted China Plates for Trophies and Gifts
It’s been a busy few years, and one of the things new here at Mungo Works is my line of painted plates. In upcoming posts, look for a line of plates featuring Pointers, from the American Pointer Club’s 75th anniversary national show in Bethlehem, PA. Below, I have a long serving style plate featuring a Field Spaniel in a hunting theme. The plates are painted with a glass and ceramic paint, and then “fired” in the oven to set the paint. They are not to be used with food, they are for decoration only. I’m looking forward to adding more breeds to my repertoire soon, along with some wildlife done on vintage china. I hope you enjoy the new pieces!
