This is a large canister that I painted for a friend to give as a wedding present. It’s got 15 dogs on it, the dogs that the bride took care of in my friend’s pet sitting service. Three smaller dogs are on the lid, and the rest are on the body of the canister. It was a challenge to get them all on!

Custom Pet Portraits
I have had many years of experience creating custom dog portraits of all dog breeds. My work as a pet artist is displayed in homes across the United States. The pet portraits are done with an underpainting of watercolor and then are rendered with overlapping layers of finely detailed professional colored pencil used to capture the texture of each animal’s coat and markings.
My love of animals can be seen in the detail of my commissioned pet portraits. Custom pet portraits, done from your photos or mine, are available in different sizes and configurations.

Custom Painted Glass Vases with Newfoundlands
The Newfoundland Club of New England has hired me to do a number of items for fund raisers. Here are four vases, 3 x 6 inches tall, with the four different colors of Newfoundlands painted on. As with every piece I do, each one is a one-of-a-kind work, no two are alike, even if I use the same model dog. Each piece is a mini portrait of a Newfoundland.

Painted China with Pointer
This is the first of many plates that I’ve painted with a Pointer theme. It was the beginning of my new venture into painting on china, for dog show trophies or for gifts. The painted china plate below, and the dog shown, belongs to Laura Salvatore.

NEW! Painted China Plates for Trophies and Gifts
It’s been a busy few years, and one of the things new here at Mungo Works is my line of painted plates. In upcoming posts, look for a line of plates featuring Pointers, from the American Pointer Club’s 75th anniversary national show in Bethlehem, PA. Below, I have a long serving style plate featuring a Field Spaniel in a hunting theme. The plates are painted with a glass and ceramic paint, and then “fired” in the oven to set the paint. They are not to be used with food, they are for decoration only. I’m looking forward to adding more breeds to my repertoire soon, along with some wildlife done on vintage china. I hope you enjoy the new pieces!
